I'm trying a web tool called voicethread with my Grade 6 science students. We are doing a unit on Variety of Life, and one of the topics covered in the unit is about adaptations. I decided to have the students select an organism of their choice, find copyright free images on the web and then do some research about the animal that answers the questions I set out for them. Also they are required to use certain vocabulary words in their voicethread presentation. The details of the project are at Smartnotebook to organize their presentations. They are typing text, which they will later record, next to copies of their images they downloaded. It's amazing all the skills that are required to do a project like this and the time it takes grade 6 students to create a 45 second presentation! If anyone would like some information on how I set up Voicethread to allow 50 students to create individual projects, leave a comment. I hope to have the completed projects embedded on my wiki soon.
